On July 5, 2014 disaster struck Main Street with a fire incident that put three businesses in jeopardy, including the downtownai??i??s very own go-to store for cupcakes and pastries, Kitchen Chemistry.Ai??
Lisa Diemer, devout member of the StroudsburgAi??community, initially opened Kitchen Chemistry on July 10, 2010. Ai??Since then, she has found help in the kitchen from her husband, Erwin Diemer, and son, Erik Diemer, both of which are bakers at the establishment. Ai??Since their grand-reopening last March, they are happy to be back on their feet and proud to announce that business has been booming.
ai???Since the reopening business has been great,ai??? said Erik Diemer. ai???At this point I kind of look at the fire as a bad nightmare or dream and now that it’s over and behind us, it’s just kind of a distant memory.ai???
The businessai??i??s success has inspired the familyAi??to get their employees and customers more involved. Ai??One way they have done this is by creatingAi??several contests.Ai??Ai??
During the time of Stroud Fest last fall, they hosted a painting contest in which anyone could submit their cupcake themed art. Ai??Customers voted on their favorite designs and the winners were awarded prizes.
More recently, Kitchen Chemistry hosted their annual Employee Cupcake Challenge, which gave employees the opportunity to produce creative cupcake concoctions. Ai??This time, customers voted on the ones they found most appetizing. In the future, expect to see Peanut Butter Chocolate Cheesecake and My Lucky Charm (Lucky Charms Cupcake) at the shop.

Currently, besides the delicious food, of course, the store offers its customers many other opportunities to express their creativity in the kitchen. They host a Cupcake Lab every Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., where anyone can come and create their own edible works of art. Also, private baking and decorating sessions and general classes are available.
Since the New Year, the staff has been working hard to implement new ideas to the menu. Customers can soon expect to see an expanded pastry line, quick breads, coffee, tea, and, surprisingly, more foods of the savory variety, including stuffed breads and soups.
