Imagine yourself eating a hearty, delicious plate of food. Then imagine your mouth on fire and tears literally pouring down your cheeks. This may sound odd, but it is precisely what would happen if you dug into Pique a lo Macho.

Today we are taking a look at one of Latin America’s most famous dishes: Pique a lo Macho. It originated in the Andean city of Cochabamba, and is eaten throughout Bolivia. Pique a lo Macho is not for the faint of heart. It is claimed that only the most “macho” of men can finish it.

The dish usually consists of strips of beef, french fries, hard boiled eggs, sausage, jalapenos, peppers, and onions. It is a national favorite dish and is exploding with spice. Devouring an entire helping of Pique a lo Macho is nearly impossible. That is why people tend to share the meal with others.

In places like Sucre and Santa Cruz, it is common to eat this flavor-packed dish as a late night snack. Whether trying it at night or day, be prepared to eat and feel the heat.
