The Stroudsburg Junior High School cross country program is off to an amazing start, with approximately 120 students competing in each race. This year students were split into two teams: The Dashing Cats vs. the Stealthy Mice, which is a fancy way of saying cat vs mouse.
Coaching this season’s teams are Mr. Matt Sobrinski and Mr. Chris Hedgelon. Both coaches are pleased the results of the first half. They emphasized that the adult and high school volunteers make a huge difference.
“We could not run this program this big without the volunteer teachers and the volunteer varsity cross country runners,” said Sobrinski. “The varsity kids know how valuable this program was to them, so many of them come on a daily basis to support the younger kids. The volunteers really make it a special experience for the runners.
This is a great spectator sport, so all parents, staff, and students are encouraged to attend the next meet this Thursday, May 11 at 4:00 p.m. behind the junior high school. Ai??All fans are encouraged to bring their vocal cords.

I remember when I was in middle school and we were Thunder and Lightning. Cross Country is a great thing for people to get a great work out and to stay in shape as they are on the off season of winter and fall sports.
