Sadly, the German American Exchange Program has come to a close at Stroudsburg High School. Recently, after a three week stay, the German GAPP students exchanged heartfelt goodbyes with their American partners. They departed for New York City where they spent three days exploring, before flying back to Germany.

The American and German students attended many field trips together.  Here are a few highlights:
-The GAPP students took a downtown Stroudsburg walking tour where they visited The Stroud Mansion and the Sherman Theater, among other venues.
-They met with State Representative Ms. Rosemary Brown and SHS superintendent Cosmos Curry.
-They enjoyed an outdoor field trip to several beautiful parks that are maintained by the Stroud Region Open Space Recreation Commission.
-They traveled to Philadelphia to see the Liberty Bell and other landmarks.

All in all the American students and German students had a great time going on many field trips together.

“I think the GAPP program is a great cultural opportunity for both American and German students,” said GAPP adviser Mr. Matthew Sobrinski. “It’s really moving to see how close the students become. Since they’re living together as part of the same family, they really bond.”

The American GAPP coordinators are English teacher Mr. Matt Sobrinski and music teacher Ms. Janice Lee.  The German GAPP coordinators are Mr. Sebastian Beckmann and Mr. Florian Fischer.
