Spotlight on Melanie Santiago

What are your plans after graduation?

I’m most definitely, or probably, going to a university. I want to go to Columbia.

Who do you consider your biggest role model, and why?

My mom, definitely, because she’s gone through a lot of stuff. She had to go to college and work all while learning a new language (English) on top of that. I’m proud of her and I love her.

What is something that most people may not know about you?

Well, most people when they first meet me, think that I’m shy and quiet, but to the people I’m close to I talk a lot. I talk too much.

What is your favorite thing about SHS?

I really like that it has an orchestra, or a strings program, because I like playing in orchestra. It gives me some kind of release from everything going on.

What is your greatest strength?

I think it’s loyalty. I’m there whenever my friends and family need me because I value relationships.

Which countries/places would you like to travel to?

I would really like to travel to Dubai, India, and to Hawaii. Basically every generic place ever, like Italy. Anywhere that’s not cold.

What movie can you watch over and over without ever getting tired of?

Coco, best Disney movie ever. I watch it at least once a month to keep it in my soul. Remember me…

What is your favorite vine?

I love the Miss Keisha one! My favorite one is when she’s hitting the doll. I’m crying just thinking about it.

What’s your life motto?

“Never regret a day in your life. Good days give you happiness, bad days give your experience, worst days give lessons, and best days give memories.” – Animesh Chaturvedi
