Forever My Own written by sophomore Jasmyn Sanchez

It can erase

The salty, silver tears

That slither down my cheek

As my heart

Strains against the impregnable tape

And shatters

It can hold a significant other

And transport me to a world

Of glowing clouds,

Whisps of radical gold and silver

That blinds me

Of all the darkness in this world

Scooping up a handful of sand

Feeling it slip through

The small cracks of my fingers

Like the lies of a snake would slip off its gleaming tongue

Many years would pass

Now old and wrinkly

Like crumpled up paper

That was flattened out,

In attempt to return its beauty,

They hold memories of long ago

A land of lunar light

And of radiant sapphire tears
