Voter Registration opportunity at Open House tonight

Taha Vahanvaty, Staff Writer

Tonight at Stroudsburg High School’s annual Open House The Acceptance Project will be hosting a voter registration drive. The drive will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. inside the main entrance.  Food and refreshments will be available.

For those unfamiliar with The Acceptance Project, it is a student-run club right here at SHS. The mission of the club is to create and facilitate dialogue between students from all different sides of controversial and prevalent topics today such as religious freedom, free speech, abortion, etc…

This voter registration drive is an opportunity for students and community members to sign-up to vote in the upcoming General Election, on Tuesday, November 5. Registered voters will have the opportunity to vote for candidates in positions ranging from their respective school board members to their district attorney.

The Acceptance Project will also be holding a raffle, in which newly registered voters will have a chance to win a 25 dollar Amazon gift card.

“This voter registration drive is going to be lit,” said Tom Mathison, a member of The Acceptance Project. “It’s the first step for students to create a change right here in their community.”

Any person 18 years of age or older who would like to register to vote should simply come to the Open House between 6:00 and 8:00 tonight.
