Stroudsburg High School welcomes Multicultural Club
October 2, 2019
Stroudsburg High School is welcoming a new club into its extracurricular atmosphere. Multicultural club held its first-ever meeting on Monday September 29, 2019, and it boasted an impressive turnout.
For those wondering what the Multicultural club is, club President Kayla Rose (senior) and club ambassador Oshune Serattan (senior) sat down with the Mountaineer in order to explain their purpose.
“If I had to create a mission statement for our club it would be ‘Different hands, different corner, one mind,” said Rose. “We want to make Stroudsburg more culturally aware by letting you learn more about someone’s culture and what makes them diverse.”
One of the club’s goals is to attract students who don’t often get involved in activities, as well as students who already participate.
“I noticed that the vast majority of the school’s clubs consisted of the same type of student,” said Rose. “ But because we target cultural differences, people who wouldn’t normally be open to trying new things now have that opportunity.”
Both student leaders are optimistic about the future of the club and what it holds for the students and the school.
“We hope that we can inspire the sophomores and juniors within the club to continue the club after we leave,” said Oshune.
The club meets every first and third Monday of the month. For more information join the classroom code below.
