This year proved to be very successful for the girls tennis team. They won the first round of the District XI Tournament against Nazareth and enjoyed many other wins.

Sophomore Paraskevi Briegel led first singles, her sister senior Vasilia Briegel led second singles, and sophomore Rachel Traub played third singles.

For second doubles there was sophomore Emma Schomberg and freshman Katie Hosko, and for third doubles, there was junior Olivia Waszkielewicz and senior Sydney Runkel.

The fourth doubles were senior Abby Puskar and freshman Jaina Nortey.

The exhibition players are as follows: freshman Jelena Nortey, senior Ritika Mamidela, senior Ivana Karataseva, freshman Katherine Georgiou, senior Alison Lim, senior Ally Puskar, and junior Alanna Christman.

The team introduced a new coach this year named Mr. Gene Tapiro, and he trained them to play their absolute best this past season. To coach the team for the districts, Taipro says they have “taken the strengths each player had and trying to expand on those.” These girls have worked their hardest to play as well as they have and their biggest attribute is, “their comradery and how they came together as a team,” said Tapiro. They did a splendid job during their 2019 season.

We wish you the best of luck for the duration of your tennis careers, girls!
