Ski club members excited to hit the slopes
It is getting to be the time of year where snow is starting to fall and the slopes are preparing for the winter season. The same time of year where the Stroudsburg High School’s Ski club begins sign-ups for the 2020-2021 year.
For those who don’t know, Stroudsburg High School’s Ski Club provides students with an opportunity to ski and snowboard after school at a discounted price. It is also an opportunity to students to meet new faces and make new friends.
“I joined the ski club because I wanted to meet other people who have the same passion for skiing and snowboarding as me,” said Rachel Sroka 21’.
For those who are considering joining the Ski Club, but don’t have much experience with skiing or snowboarding, lessons are available. They offer private lessons where you and the instructor are able to work on more of what you want to learn or need help with. They also offer group lessons where you focus on specific concepts and advance your skills.
“You can be a beginner or any level skier or snowboarder to join,” said c0-adviser Ms. Kathy Sickler. Ms. Melissa Koehler is also a co-adviser.
It’s not too late to join, as the group hasn’t even started yet. They will have their first night on the slopes Jan. 7, 2021. The Ski Club will run for six weeks, making their last night on Feb. 11, 2021.
“What I enjoy most is getting the discount on something I love to do,” said Tala Bross 21’, who has been a member of the ski club since her freshman year.
If students find they enjoy the experience, they can get a season pass and ski or snowboard until the season at Camelback ends. If any student thinks they are ready to hit the slopes and join Ski Club, they can fill out the google form below and sign up with Camelback, using the information provided.
If anyone has any questions, they can email Ms. Sickler or Ms. Koehler.
