Taha Vahanvaty – Gap Year

Madison Hentze, Staff Writer

What college do you plan on attending and why did you choose this college/university? If you chose another path for next year, what is it? Be specific.

I will be taking a gap year after graduation in order to continue expanding my organization, The Acceptance Project (TAP), on a full time basis.

What do you hope or plan to study when you attend your college/university?

When I begin my time at a university I plan on pursuing a degree in public policy with a focus on education and economics.

What is one goal you hope to achieve before graduating from SHS?

I hope that my summer camp, TAP into Summer, and focus group program, TAP into Race are a success!

What do you look most forward to about next year?

I am beginning my year long volunteer mentorship as a Big Brother with the Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) program this summer. I can’t wait to meet my Little!

Share one insight/thought for next year’s seniors.

Make sure you spend your time working on something that’ll help someone else. Seniors of high school have a tendency to make students get caught up in grades, rank, and personal achievements. Don’t get caught up in the rat race, and instead focus your time and energy on something that helps your friends, family, and/or community.
