What subjects do you teach?

10th Honors English, Public Speaking, Senior Composition, Drama 1 and Drama 2.

What grades do you teach?

10-12.

How long have you been teaching at SASD?

25 years.

What is one important lesson you have learned as an educator?

That I should try to get to know every single student as an individual and to enjoy and value people for their differences.

What do you find most surprising about your job?

The more effort I put into it, the more rewarding every day is.

Is there anything you wish you had known as a first-year teacher?

Not to sweat the small stuff and not to work through my lunch!

What is your favorite part about teaching?

I get really excited when I am planning a new lesson.  It is fun to consider varying ways to bring knowledge and content to a classroom.  My creativity is a driving force behind everything I do, which makes it really fun.

If you could teach another subject what would it be and why?

Ceramics:  I have my own potting studio, but don’t use it much.  Teaching ceramics would force me to be more active in visual arts.

If you could have one superpower what would it be and why?  I would be Serenity Girl!  People would feel peace and serenity whenever I was in their presence.
