Teacher Feature on Ms. Brown

Savannah Bone, Staff Writer

At which school in the district do you teach?

Stroudsburg High School.

What subjects do you teach?

Health and Physical Education.

What grades do you teach?

10-12.

How long have you been teaching at SASD?

18 years.

If you could teach another subject what would it be and why?

Why would I teach anything else? I have the best job in the world!

What do you find most challenging about being a teacher?

I find it most challenging to find a balance between work, coaching, and family. I strive to be the best I can at anything that I do, so I find it difficult to make time for everything. I always feel like I am not giving enough attention or dedication to one of them. I am really hard on myself about that.

What is one piece of advice you would share with your students?

Be kind. Everyone is fighting a battle whether it is internal or external, so be kind. You never know what someone else is going through.

What is your favorite sports team? Why are they your favorite?

I am a Philly fan through and through. I support all of them but I will always be a Sixers fan. I’ll never forget going to my first professional game and seeing  Allen Iverson play.

What is your favorite quote and what does it mean to you?

The tongue has no bones but is strong enough to break a heart. — So be careful with your words. I think people forget that words can hurt. It is not always what you say but how you say it. No one has the right to be mean to another. Think before you speak!
