Teacher Feature on Mrs. Krause

Diyanna Schlaeger, Staff Writer

At which school in the district do you teach?

Stroudsburg High School

What subject(s) do you teach?

English

What grade (s) do you teach?

10th grade

How long have you been teaching at SASD?

14 Years

What do you find most surprising about your job?

There is never a dull day and no period, day, week, month, or year is like any other.

If you could teach another subject what would it be and why?

History, because it was my favorite subject in high school and it was my first area of certification to teach.  I love learning about what happened before and how it impacts the now.

What is one piece of advice you would share with your students?

Get involved, even if it is not in school-sanctioned events.  I wasn’t very involved in my high school, but I am very involved now and it is definitely the better option.

What is your favorite sports team? Why are they your favorite?

Toronto Maple Leafs.  It is ironic for an English teacher to be a fan of the only team that has a name that doesn’t follow normal English conventions.  Just kidding.  I was a fan before I was hired to teach English.  I am obsessed with Canada and decided to pick a very old and very Canadian team.

What is your favorite quote and what does it mean to you?

“Be who you needed when you were younger.”  I think this quote is meaningful because a lot of people needed someone who was on their side, who supported them, and who was there for them.  I think as young adults we should strive to be that kind of person for others.
