What are your plans after graduation?
After graduating I plan on possibly having a gap year. Just having fun and enjoying some time being young while I still am young. I want to live my life to the fullest and enjoy my time on this Earth. After having that gap year I plan on going to cosmetology school and getting my cosmology license and later becoming a hairdresser.
What qualities do you value in people?
I have a 3 qualities that I value in a person. The first one is loyalty. Obviously anyone would want someone to be loyal to them. Having to hear from another person that someone is talking behind your back does not feel the best. So having someone loyal is important to me. Also overall being a positive person. Positivity spreads just as much as negativity does. Being around positivity brings joy and I value that in someone. Lastly is being an extrovert. Going out and doing things and not just laying around is something that I myself do. So having someone that can join me in activities outdoors is important.
What was your favorite class at SHS?
My favorite class at SHS is Mrs. Haubrich’s Global Issues class. As much as I like learning about issues going on in the world and being educated on them. I like the class more because Mrs. Haubrich teaches it. She is such an awesome teacher and you can just get along with her so easily. She has a way of being able to get a whole class to get along and enjoy each other and just have fun. Walking into her class can just make your day. She seems more like a friend than a teacher. And I admire her for that.
When you are old, what do you think children will ask you to tell stories about?
I believe that children and younger people, in general, will ask me about Covid 19. It has changed society as a whole in some good and bad ways. Mostly bad ways. Talking about the struggles and having to quarantine will be something that I will talk about to them. And hopefully, they find it interesting.
What movie could you never get tired of watching?
A movie I could never get tired of is an anime that turned into a movie called Spirited Away. The art in the movie is mind-blowing and I am just so fascinated by it. The creativity that was put into the movie is outstanding. I mean have you seen some of the creatures from the movie?! I love the storyline and I believe that the movie is perfect and it isn’t like any other movie I have watched. I recommend to anyone that you go and watch the movie. It’s available on HBO Max.
If there is one thing you could change in the world, what would it be?
The one thing that I would change is beauty standards. The one thing I will in the world is that there is no beauty standard. So many people feel they have to look a certain way to feel accepted in society. Not just the way their face looks but beauty standards for body type is so unrealistic. Teenagers that aren’t fully developed yet see all of these beauty standards, and may think “why don’t I look like her,” while scrolling through Instagram or Tik Tok can lower their self-esteem. It makes many people depressed and feel like they aren’t good enough, losing all confidence. Not even just girls, guys too can experience the same feelings. I myself have experienced being obsessed with beauty standards and have learned to love myself just the way I am. I just wish that society was different and we didn’t have beauty standards.
What’s something people don’t worry about but really should?
I believe that people should be more worried and educated on is suicide awareness. Suicide is a very important issue that we all need to be educated on. Especially teenagers, since suicide rates for teens are so high. It is so important that we are able to learn about it. Not even just in school but going online and researching can have an impact on not just yourself but other people. Educating yourself on it can not only help you know how to get through a hard time, but also help others. You could potentially save someone’s life by just educating yourself about it.
Which countries/places would you like to visit?
The first place that I want to travel to out of the U.S is Greece. Seeing so many photos of the beautiful blue water and the architect there makes me want to go so bad. As I myself am Greek I would love to be able to learn more about my ethnicity, culture, and see where I am from. I have a bunch of family there that I want to meet. And I also want to learn some of the language so I can communicate with them. Being able to physically experience going there is a dream of mine.
What are your opinions on today’s trends, and your favorite one?
There are so many different trends that are so different and diverse. I mean you see so many different people wearing so many different things. But personally, my favorite trend at the moment is graphic eyeliner. Graphic liner is an eyeliner style with usually a fun pop of color. It can make a basic full face of makeup into something that is eyecatching and very unique. I am in love with graphic liner and recommend it to anyone that wants to adventure out.
What is your favorite thing about yourself?
My favorite thing about myself is being able to talk someone through a hard time. I myself have in the past and sometimes now still have a hard time. Having someone to be able to talk to and just vent can feel amazing. And being able to be that person for someone makes me happy that I am able to help people. Just to either listen to someone and/or give them advice can make an impact. I am more than happy to help someone and to have them trust me enough to tell me things means a lot to me.
