GSA offers students a safe place to be themselves

The club is always open to newcomers

Ren Bondoc, Staff Writer

The Gay-Straight Alliance Club (GSA) at SHS is a safe haven for students who are part of or allies of the LGBTQ+ community.

GSA is a club that allows people to get a broader understanding of the LGBTQ+ community and learn that there is a community that supports them.

The GSA’s plans for the future are to hold fundraisers and bring awareness to more LGBTQ+ related holidays, current events, and suicide awareness.

Ms. Cheri West is the GSA adviser. Meetings are held in her room (G209) on Tuesdays at 2:30.

“There are many things that are overlooked in the LGBTQ community that need more awareness and this is the perfect place to spread the word,” said president Luka Konklin, a junior.

They are very respectful of everyone’s opinions and are always looking for new people to join their growing community.
