Band & Music

 

What grade(s) do you teach?

5th, 6th, & mostly 7th

 

How long have you been teaching at SASD?

This is my 7th year!

 

What is your favorite part about teaching?

Getting to know my students

 

If you could teach another subject what would it be and why?

English, because I love to read and write

 

If you had gone into another profession, what would it be and why?

I’d either be a writer or work with animals!

 

What is one piece of advice you would share with your students?

Be yourself, even when it’s not easy

 

If you could have one superpower what would it be and why?

It would be fun to turn invisible!

 

How and when did you know teaching was what you wanted to do?

I knew after my first orchestra concert in 3rd grade.

 

What is a joke you always keep in your pocket?

I often tell my students that “it’s Friday for teachers, too,” when they’re checked out at the end of the week!

 

Who do you look up to?

My high school band director

 

What will your life look like after you retire?

Hopefully lots of reading, writing, and dogs!

 

What is your favorite memory of teaching?

So far, probably my first Music Fest Concert

 

What is something that most people may not know about you?

I play Dungeons and Dragons with friends from out of state every month.

 

What is a hidden talent of yours?

I love to play video games

 

What is your proudest achievement?

Graduating from college with a double major


What is one thing you wish people knew about teaching/teachers in general?

Everything we do is for the students

 

What makes you smile?

My dog, Stella

 

When you retire one day, what will you miss most about teaching?

Interacting with students, because I learn so much from them!

 

What is something your students have taught you?

My students inspire me to keep getting excited about new things!
