Stroudsburg 2B Alex Pacitti fielding a ball and throwing to Stroudsburg 1B Anthony Knight during Stroudsburg’s game against Emmaus on April 8, 2024.

On Sat, April 13, the Mountaineers lost to Wallenpaupack High School, 6-4.

For a second straight game, the Mountaineers were able to get on the board first, leading 1-0 after the first inning and a half. Wallenpaupack would respond by scoring two in the bottom half of the inning. Stroudsburg would score to lead 3-2 but that would be the last time they would score until the seventh inning.

Stroudsburg 1B Anthony Knight, 11, led the team in hitting, Knight drove in two runs in his three at-bats. Supplementing,  INF Damian Budhai, 9, and OF Ryan Pacitti, 9, who both drove in a run in the contest.

Stroudsburg’s starting pitcher Paulie Maccarrone, 11, took the loss in the contest. Maccarrone went five innings, striking out seven while allowing five runs (four earned). P/INF Alex Pacitti, 11, relieved him, pitching one inning, allowing two hits, and striking out a batter.

For Stroudsburg, this is now the third straight affair they have lost by 2 or fewer runs. They are in the midst of a losing streak, the team’s longest since 2021 (April 14-April 23, 4 consecutive losses).

The team looks to bounce back against the dreadful Pocono Mountain West baseball program, who have not won a game this season.

Knight is expected to start on short rest for the Mountaineers.
