You may have wondered who the group of non-dress code people were wandering around the stadium track last week. Well, it turns out, it’s a group that’s been visiting SHS for the last quarter-century.
On Thursday morning, April 18, Stroudsburg High School Stadium hosted the A.C.E. School of Tomorrow, for their annual Mid-Atlantic Regional Student Convention.
The mainly home-schooled students from the Accelerated Christian Education chapters of Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and the District of Columbia gathered on our home field to experience a variety of track events. The School of Tomorrow offers various field trips throughout the year for their students to try enrichment activities, varying from soccer and track to art, drama, and singing.
The teens tried “their hand” (and feet) at some typical track events such as relay races, long jump, high jump, throwing, and more.
As one chaperone, who goes by the name Benaiah, coached a group of boys on the high jump, he shared that this convention has taken place for about 25 years. Stroudsburg High School is the chosen host “because of the location” but also because “Stroudsburg has the nicest facilities around.”
Who knew? Did you?
