Mini-Thon is a club that is full of students who help and raise money for childhood cancer.
What started at Penn State University has since expanded to schools across the state.
Mini-Thon hosts a very big event at the end of the year which anyone can attend by donating 10 dollars and somehow making 50 more for the event. This event brings in millions each year for cancer research and provides an end of the year type celebration for students.
For freshmen, this is the first time they are eligible to attend the event. No longer relegated to simply hearing about it, some freshmen are very excited to join in this year.
A Freshman at the Junior High, Gregory Blannard, says. “I’m excited because of my friend Robert and were going to do fun things together”
This event is held on April 27th from 10 am to 10 pm. What students do at this event is dance, and stand for almost the entire event, there’s fun things to do, and there is food.
The Mountaineers have raised over 500k in donations just by doing these events every year and hope to raise way more.
