Last week, Chris Herren came to talk to the seniors of Stroudsburg High School about drug and alcohol abuse. For Herren, it is a subject that hits close to home.
Once touted as the next best thing and was projected to be a first round pick in the NBA Draft, Herren’s addiction got the best of him.
After playing two seasons in the league with the Nuggets and Celtics, Herren went overseas. His addiction continued and cost him his basketball career and almost his life.
Since he has overcome his addiction, Herren now goes around and talks to students, personnel, and even professional sports teams about drugs, alcohol, his recovery process, and more.
