Stroudsburg Girls’ Tennis were dominant the entire season. They finished the regular season with a 13-2 record, good for third overall in the district.
The team advanced to the district tournament where they beat a 12-win Easton team in the quarterfinals and a 17-win powerhouse Liberty in the semifinals. They fell in the finals, but they took home the silver medal in the tournament.
The Mountaineers were loaded all year with familiar faces and new and rising stars.
Ava Marsh, ’28, won a bronze third-place medal in the EPC Tournament for second in singles. She was joined by her sister Lana Marsh, ’25, in doubles action and they took home the bronze medal in the District Doubles tournament.
Vasoula Skarlis, ’28, won a bronze third-place medal in the EPC Tournament for third singles. Julia Sobrinski, ’26, and Marlo El-Bassiouni, ’26, won a bronze fourth-place medal in the EPC tournament for fourth doubles.
Shelbi Calligari, ’25, and Julianna Vo, ’25, dominated on the doubles court, bringing home a bronze third-place medal in the EPC tournament. The duo was also honored by the Pocono Record’s Athlete of the Week for their performance in early September.
The seniors departing the team after this year are Calligari, Marsh, Madison Noonan, Berlin Ulmer, and Vo.
Even with the seniors leaving, the team is in a good position for the future starting next summer.
