Tonight, Stroudsburg Football hosts Pleasant Valley in their final game of the regular season. Tonight is also Homecoming where Stroudsburg will name their 2024 Homecoming Queen.
During Homeroom today, students of the High School voted on who should be the Homecoming Queen after watching a video on the nominees. This year’s nominees are seniors Cameryn Beebe, Brianna Coykendall, Madison Garcia, Jessica Klein, Janel Meyers, Katelyn Pantinople, Gabriella Sanchez, Nathalie Rodriguez, and Keilyn Tejada. The winner will be announced during halftime of tonight’s game.
Another Stroudsburg Homecoming speciality is the Float performance. Each class picks a different movie based off of a general theme. This year is 80s movies. Read more about the history of floats here.
Through all of the theatrics, the team has a game to play, and it is a big one. After last week’s loss to East Stroudsburg South, Stroudsburg’s record sits at 5-4 on the season, which is good enough for 7th in District XI 6A.
With a win tonight against Pleasant Valley, who is winless on the season, will send Stroudsburg to the playoffs for a third consecutive season. According to The Mountaineer’s projections, Stroudsburg has a 99.6 percent chance of clinching a playoff berth.
The Homecoming parade starting at the Monroe County Courthouse down towards the Main Entrance of Stroudsburg High School begins at 5:00 p.m. with the float performances beginning at 5:20 p.m. Tonight’s game kicks off at 7:05 p.m. at Ross-Stulgaitis Stadium.
