The November Board meeting has shown us numerous plans the district has to improve our athletic department. First, there is the new weight room being implemented, which is going to be finished no later than January 1, 2025. This new weight room will be fully renovated from where it was before, and is planned to be on par with other weight rooms at various colleges. In total, this comes to $500,000 and will hopefully put on teams on the same level as the various valley schools, and especially our rival, East Stroudsburg South. In addition to the weight room, we will be purchasing new scoreboards, which will be fully digital. They will be the same type as the ones that schools like Whitehall and Easton have (Check https://digitalscoreboards.net/ for more information).
The district has regained the deed for Ramsey after loaning it to the County for it to be used as a probation center. The county had renovated the building in the time that they owned it, so its entirely usable now. The district is planning to now turn Ramsey into a Pre-K, due to the playground and all facilities already being present at Ramsey.
The school board approved 2 new courses to be considered for the 2025-2026 school year. First was World Study 1, which is designed to bridge the gap for those reading below the grade level. Second was The Study of Graphic Novels, which will focus on how to read and interpret graphic novels such as Marvel and DC comics, along with writing their own short comic.
The board approved the retirement of two more of Stroudsburg’s teachers, Mr. Sobrinski and Mr. George. It was determined that Sobrinski will be set to retire at the end of the second marking period. As for Mr. George, he will be retiring from Stroudsburg at the end of the 2024-2025 school year.
