At which school in the district do you teach?
I am the newest Assistant Principal at Stroudsburg High School working with Head Principal Sodl and Principal Gangaware.
When did you begin working in education?
I initially worked as an audit accountant in Philadelphia but eventually realized I wasn’t fulfilled in that role. This led me to pursue a career in education. I returned to school at Millersville University, where I earned my certification in Technology Education and completed my Master’s degree in Educational Technology.
Did you educate somewhere prior to SHS? Where?
For nearly the past decade, I have been teaching at Easton Area High School. During this time, I taught Technology and Engineering Education, including an engineering curriculum through Project Lead the Way.
How long have you been an educator?
I have been teaching for the last 8 years.
What is your favorite part about being at SHS so far?
Although I have only been at SHS for a short time, my favorite aspect is the strong sense of community within the school. Teachers, students, administrators, and staff take great pride in being part of the Stroudsburg community. This pride is essential for fostering a positive atmosphere where everyone feels valued and included.
If you could teach any subject what would it be and why?
I would continue teaching Technology and Engineering Education because it fosters critical thinking and empowers individuals to express their ideas and solutions to problems in a constructive and meaningful way.
What is one piece of advice you would share with the student body?
Never stop seeking new positive experiences—you might discover something you enjoy without even realizing it beforehand. Don’t be ashamed or afraid to admit when you like something. There are countless communities out there ready to welcome you for sharing the same interests.
What is your favorite quote?
I have two favorite quotes:
- “May the force be with you” by Obi Wan Kenobi
- “Technology will never replace great teachers, but technology in the hands of a great teacher can be transformational” by George Couros
Who do you look up to?
I look up to my parents, who were part of the first generations in their families to attend college. My mother, an English teacher who later became a librarian, instilled in my siblings and me a love for reading and a commitment to lifelong learning. My father, an accountant, taught us the value of a strong work ethic, always doing the right thing, and dedicating ourselves fully to any cause we undertake.
What is something that most people may not know about you?
Something most people may not know about me is that I’m a big fan of playing Dungeons and Dragons. At EAHS, I even ran the D&D Club. I proudly embrace my inner nerd, with a love for D&D, Star Wars, and just about anything else in the fantasy or sci-fi genres.
What is a hidden talent of yours?
I love woodworking and have been building for a long time. Restoring wooden hand planes and building furniture are some of my favorite projects. It’s a craft that allows me to blend creativity with precision, and I find it incredibly rewarding.
What is something your students have taught you?
My students have taught me the importance of adaptability and the value of seeing things from different perspectives. Each student brings their own unique experiences and viewpoints, which constantly remind me that there’s more than one way to approach a problem or understand a concept. They’ve also shown me the power of resilience and the importance of creating an environment where everyone feels supported and capable of growth.
Are you excited to be at SHS?
Yes, I’m definitely excited to be at SHS! Although I’ve only been here for a short time, I’ve already felt a strong sense of community among the teachers, students, administrators, and staff. It’s clear that everyone is deeply invested in making Stroudsburg a great place to learn, and I’m eager to contribute to that positive atmosphere and grow with the school.
