On January fourteenth, 2025, the Stroudsburg Chess Team defeated East Stroudsburg North by a score of 6-1.This was a win that Stroudsburg desperately needed to keep its playoff hopes alive.
Stroudsburg’s top performers were Duncan Ruschman, ’26, Matthew Sanchez, ’25, Maosn Ulmer, ’27, Jacob Pachter, ’27, Megan Lisnik, ’26, and Duncan Casebolt, ’27. A special congratulation goes to Duncan Casebolt, as this was his first, of hopefully many, varsity wins in his career.
After this win the team is now 5-3-1 and in firm place of 3rd place in the District 11 Mountain standings. The next match is on January twenty-first, 2025 against the 4-5 East Stroudsburg South. The last time these two teams played, the game was close with East Stroudsburg South coming out with the win 4-3, so Stroudsburg will be looking to get some revenge against their biggest rival.
