Pittsburgh has its fair share of professional sports teams like: the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Pittsburgh Pirates, and the Pittsburgh Riverhounds, but one sport you may not expect to see in Pittsburgh is bull riding. That’s right — the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) is coming to the Steel City.
Pittsburgh is hosting the Premier Series tour in January of 2025, with the host city being Pennsylvania´s own Pittsburgh. The competition will be held inside PPG Paints Arena the home of the Pittsburgh Penguins from January 24-25 2025. The PBR fans of Pittsburgh and beyond are excited to watch their favorite bull riders take on the Steel City.
With the PBR coming to Pittsburgh, fans have one common question, why? Why pick Pittsburgh, of all places, to host the PBR?
When asked the same question, Andrew Giangola VP, of Strategic Communications, PBR, answered,¨Over the years, PBR has packed venues throughout Pennsylvania and the region. We´ve found that fans attending these events are among the most passionate in the country. It’s pretty simple: a tough gritty city like Pittsburgh deserves to host the toughest, grittiest sport.¨
The answer is simple: the PBR is coming to Pittsburgh because Pittsburgh is a tough city and the PBR is only for the toughest riders in the entire world. So buckle in and get ready to watch some bull riding in the Steel City this January. The PBR will be aired on CBS and Pluto TV with Ride Pass.
According to Giangola, “PBR ‘Unleash The Beast’ heads into Pittsburgh this weekend expecting to sell out both nights, making 11 sell-outs in January, a record for the sport including all three nights in NYC for the first time and two nights in Chicago. The total PBR event attendance for the first 18 days of January was an organizational record of 168,528 fans to start the calendar year. ”
