On January 23, 2025, the Stroudsburg boys’ basketball team defeated their biggest rival, East Stroudsburg South, 59-44. This is Stroudsburg’s first win in the calendar year and it wasn’t an easy one.
Coming into the game, SHS’s spirits were high. The last time these two teams faced off the game came down to the last shot of the game.
Stroudsburg’s game developed slowly with a score of 5-12 in favor of South. SHS guard, Kameron Knight, ’26, scored all 5 points for the Mounties in the quarter.
Heading to the second half, the game was close with a score of 15-20. Jaiden Martinez-Tovar, ’26, led the way for South with 10 points. Mountie spirits were down, but not out. Coming out of the locker room, the team had a different aura around themselves and it showed.
At the end of the third quarter, the score was 39-34, and the team was red hot. After an explosive fourth quarter for the Mounties, the game was over. Guard, Jarel Jackson, ’27, was the leading scorer for the Mounties scoring 16 points, Kameron Knight had 12 points, and Josh Ivers-Green had 12 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 blocks. South’s Jaiden Martinez-Tovar scored 21 points, nearly half of all South’s points.
The Mounties are now 3-18 with three games left in the season. The Mounties play against the 3-14 East Stroudsburg North, away, on January 28, 2025.
