The Grammys were held on Sunday, Feb. 2, 2024. The music industry’s most famous artists gathered in Hollywood to celebrate their art.
On Nov. 8, 2024, the nominations were jam-packed with a diversity of artists.
“Some people deserved their win, but there are definitely some artists who should’ve won like Billie Eilish,” says Tess Nowosad, ’26.
The Grammys were hosted by comedian and television host, Trevor Noah. He is known for previously hosting ‘The Daily Show.”
Due to the L.A. fires, other Grammy-related events were canceled. The ceremony still went on, with it being a fundraiser for the destruction of the fires. The telecast had a QR code on the screen for audiences at home to donate.
Every year the academy honors those who have passed in the music industry. This year, their focus was Quincy Jones. Quincy Jones worked with Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, and many others. Lainey Wilson, Cynthia Erivo, Stevie Wonder, and Herbie Hancock are some of the artists who paid tribute performances to him.
Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars won the Grammy for Best Pop Duo Performance with “Die With A Smile.”
Best Pop Vocal Album went to Sabrina Carpenter for “Short and Sweet.”
The Grammy for Song of the Year and Record of the Year went to Kendrick Lamar for “Not Like Us.”
Country Album of the Year and Album of the Year went to Beyoncé for “Cowboy Carter.”
“I wasn’t happy with Beyoncé winning the country album. I think Billie or Taylor should have won at least one award. I think that Chappell and Sabrina performed great, and they did deserve their Grammys,” expressed Bella Kopec, ’28.
The Best New Artist of 2025 was Chappell Roan, who used her win to advocate for fair pay and healthcare for artists, from their labels.
