Have you ever used the School-Wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (SWPBIS) Program or wondered how it impacts students and schools? Here at Stroudsburg High School, this system plays a key role in shaping our school culture. But what exactly is SWPBIS Rewards, and how does it benefit students and staff?
SWPBIS Program is a rewards system that promotes “school-wide positive behavioral interventions and supports” which encourages students to demonstrate positive school expectations. SWPBIS focuses on recognizing and reinforcing good behavior rather than punishing negative actions. This program was implemented district-wide, originally using paper tickets. Now the program has progressed to an online app version that makes it easier for students, teachers, and administration to manage.
Through PBIS Rewards, a rewards app available to download on student Chromebooks through the Clever platform, students can track points earned for demonstrating positive behaviors that align with the school’s core expectations, such as respect, responsibility, dependency, and more. These points can then be redeemed for various rewards, which may include school privileges, prizes, or special events. The goal is to create a supportive school environment where students are motivated to make good choices and contribute to a positive school culture.
Teachers and staff can award points through the PBIS Rewards system using various devices, including smartphones, tablets, or computers. Recognition can occur in different school settings, not just the classroom, ensuring that positive behavior is acknowledged school-wide.
To keep track of their points and available rewards, students can use the PBIS Rewards Student App or access the Student Portal online. These tools provide real-time updates on point balances and reward options, enabling students to set goals and monitor their progress. By actively participating in the PBIS Rewards program, students here at Stroudsburg High School are encouraged to exhibit positive behaviors, contributing to a supportive and respectful school community.
When redeeming your PBIS points, there are rewards such as school privileges, tangible items, and special events depending on how many accumulated points you have earned and received.
In this case, a student here at Stroudsburg High School, Jarmal Patterson ’26, has well-earned his pizza for lunch in our planning center on Feb. 11. To earn this reward from PBIS, students must reach the requirement of 50 points. This will occur in a designated area, such as the planning room.

Patterson was able to earn this reward through his respectfulness and was also able to combine this reward with friends of his choice! These friends included Devin Swen ’25, Jayden Woolard ’25, and Dylan Rivera ’27.
