The Stroudsburg Area School Board met on February 19 for its monthly meeting to address proposed changes for the Stroudsburg Area School District. Student Representative to the School Board, Kona Maranpot, ’25, attended the meeting on behalf of Stroudsburg High School students. No issues were presented on the student body’s behalf.
According to the BoardDocs, the following items were discussed regarding the high school and district.
Substitute teacher Andre Knight, a favored sub among SHS students, has been assigned to the junior high building as a long-term substitute. Saranda Kadrijaj, a paraprofessional, will be moving to the high school building. Nazariy Myshak, security guard, will also be moving to the high school building.
Maria Gondella, Reading Specialist at the high school, will replace Moira Loughman, history teacher, as advisor for the SHS Interact Club.
SHS senior, Tory Bumford, was approved as the photographer for the district website and social media accounts.
Boys volleyball is coming to the high school. Coach and teacher, Jake Cirillo has been appointed as the new SHS boys’ volleyball club advisor, a voluntary position. This is the first step in proposing boys’ volleyball as an official sport for the 2025-2026 school year.
The board has recommended that the district purchase three, 48-passenger school buses from Rohrer School and Commercial Bus Sales. The board also recommended that the Ramsey Elementary building be repurposed and leased to Pocono Services for Families and Children (PSFC).
Lastly, the new 2025-2026 school year calendar has been approved, in addition, the Spring Keystone schedule was approved, and the Program of Study for the 2025-2026 school year was approved.
