Introduce yourself:
Hi! I’m Ariette Escobar.
How long have you been teaching?
I have worked in education for over a decade.
How long have you been working for SASD?
Since 2021.
Why did you choose to become a teacher?
My first opportunity to work as a teacher was when I was offered a job teaching English in Japan. Twenty years later I came back to teaching when I learned about an immediate need for a French teacher. I originally came in to help out and ended up really liking the students and staying here.
If not a teacher, what would you do?
I would love to work in International Relations if not a teacher.
Who is your role model?
I try to live my life under Christ, so I would have to say my role model is Jesus.
What’s good life advice to give to a student?
I would say to them that it’s okay to make mistakes in life; some of the greatest discoveries in life started out as mistakes. So don’t be too hard on yourself when you make a mistake, just learn from it, and try again!
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
Most people don’t know that I love languages and love to travel – I’ve already visited 46 countries, and won’t stop until I get to at least 100.
Since you’ve been out of the country, where?
I’ve traveled quite a bit including to places like Australia, Tunisia, Lichtenstein, Colombia, and Croatia. I’ve even had the opportunity to live in France, Japan, and Brazil.
