How long have you been with SHS?
Since October of 2022
What made you want to become a teacher?
I fell in love with teaching when I taught ESL in Japan. Education then became a passion of mine and something I wanted to continue to do in America too.
What subject or subjects do you teach?
English Literature all day.
What grades do you teach?
Currently, 10th grade but I’ve taught middle school and 9th – 12th grade throughout my teaching career.
If you could teach any other subject what would it be?
I have taught history in other schools…so, probably that.
What is your favorite part about your students?
Your creativity and ingenuity when facing a challenge or working on a project. Also, your sense of humor. You all usually make me laugh.
What is one thing you learned from your students?
To be more present in the moment. One of my favorite quotes: “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
Who do you look up to?
My parents. Love them.
What makes you smile?
A lot of things: puppies, Worship music, strawberry short-cake. Honestly, seeing other people happy and smiling. It’s contagious!
What is something most people might not know about you?
I am really good at Karaoke.
If you had one piece of advice to give to your students, what would it be?
In the words of Oscar Wilde (Famous Irish poet/dramatist), “Never love anyone who treats you like you’re ordinary.” You are precious and it’s okay to love people from a distance. If you’re not being treated fairly, with dignity and respect–let them go.
