Saturday, April 26, East Stroudsburg South held an Invitational meet with nine schools. The SHS girls took first place, while the SHS boys took second at this meet. After dropping a nail-bitingly close match to South earlier in the week, Stroudsburg took a trip over the bridge one last time with revenge in mind.
Opening the meet, Alena Murray, ’25, continued her dominance in sprinting as she took first in the 100m, running 12.37, while also placing third in the 200m. In the 400m, Julianna Mccallister, ’26, and Phoebe Winkelman, ’28, took second and third for the girls, raking in even more points for the team. Julia Grant, ’26, brought in yet another first-place finish for the Mounties in the 800m, finishing in 2:21.20.
The boys struggled with sprinting, unable to place, yet competed at a high level. In the 1600m; however, DIII commit Aiden Nieman, ’25, comfortably took first with seconds to spare at 4:39.46. Nieman committed to Moravian Academy for track earlier in the year and has been proving himself meet after meet.
The girls showed out in the relays, gapping their competition in the 4x100m and 4x400m, extending their lead even more.
As always, Stroudsburg was successful in the hurdles, with Aidan Coyne, ’25, placing second in both the 110 mH and 300 mH for the boys. Olivia Full, ’26, grabbed second in the 300 mH, at 50.76, and Grace Coyne, ’26, took third in both the 100 mH and 300 mH for the girls.
For the jumpers, only two Mounties placed: Ethan Dudsak, ’25, and Arianna Thomas, ’27. Dudsak took third in the long jump, taking flight for 20-09.25 feet, while Thomas brought in a second-place medal for the girls in high jump, at 4-06.
Austin Herman, ’25, continued his hot streak, bringing in a first-place finish in pole vault at 11-06, while Owen Siptroth, ’26, took home third at 10-06.
The Mounties placed well in the throwing events, earning a first-place medal and multiple top-three placements.
Aren Quintero, ’26, a first-year thrower, placed first in the meet, throwing 45-05, while in discus, Stroudsburg took second and third place. Juandavid Carpintero, ’26, and Anthony Delgado, ’25, snagged their medals as each threw 115-09 and 114-02, respectively.
In javelin, both boys and girls placed. Benjamin Pilcher, ’25, took second for the boys with a throw of 161-10, and Kamrin Hock, ’25, brought home the other second place for the girls, throwing 100-01.
Stroudsburg bouncing back from a heartbreaking loss against East Stroudsburg South was well needed and gets the ball rolling again for their final meet of the season against Pleasant Valley on Monday, April 28.
