On Thursday, May 1, 2025, the Lady Mountaineers won against Pocono Mountain West 5-0.
The first three innings were quick, with two straight strikeouts from each pitcher along with one pop fly and a line-out to end the first. Both teams collected outs that ended two scoreless innings.
In the bottom of the third inning, a hit by Izzy Molinero, ’25, and Ava Fagan-Huse, ’27, (and an error on West) allowed two runs, making it 2-0 Stroudsburg.
In the top fourth, Kat Lavra, ’26 singles on a fly ball and brings Dorothy “Dot” Elko, ’26 home, making it 3-0 Stroudsburg.
In the bottom of the fifth, Melissa Safin, ’25 hits a single, Molinero scores, bringing the score to 4-0 Stroudsburg.
In the bottom of the sixth, Elko hits a triple. Lavra hits a single, Elko scores, 5-0, Stroudsburg.
A pop-out, ground out, and strikeout end the game.
Isabella Thomas, ’26, expressed that she is “proud of her team” and especially “her seniors” for this season. Thomas says, “All of the seniors are hardworking, intelligent, and committed. I wish them all the best of luck in college, and I know they’ll be just amazing as they are on the field.”
Bella Piper, ’25, says, “I am excited that I got to play my senior year of softball with my favorite people.”
The Lady Mounties honored six seniors on the 2025 team.
- #2 is Izzy Molinaro ’25. She is their second baseman and committed to East Stroudsburg University.
- #3 is Izabella Hernandez. She is their outfielder, and she is committed to Northampton.
- #12 is Melissa Safin. She is their first baseman, and she is committed to East Stroudsburg University.
- #20 is Nathalie Rodriguez. She is their outfielder, and she is committed to Temple University.
- #21 is Elena Trotter. She is their center field, and she is committed to Eastern University.
- #60 Bella Piper. She is their third baseman, and she is committed to Stevens Institute of Technology.

Their next game is at home today against Pleasant Valley at 4. The Mountaineers have two more games of the regular season until they’re done.
