According to signs around the Stroudsburg Area schools. Ramsey Elementary at 528 Thomas Street, Stroudsburg, PA, is reopening as an infant/toddler program, preschool/Head Start program, and before-school and after-school care.
The February 2025 Stroudsburg Area School Board “Board Docs” meeting notes confirmed, “Recommendation to approve the Lease Agreement between the Stroudsburg Area School District and Pocono Services for Families and Children (PSFC), pending administrative and solicitor approval, as presented.” This was followed by a confirmation in the SHS March school board meeting.
The Ramsey building hasn’t been open in 11 years. At one time, it was the first Stroudsburg High School until it caught fire in 1927. It was officially closed in 2014 due to low student enrollment.
The new PSFC venture is expected to be up and running by the September 2025 school year. Once again, the Ramsey building will be full of children, only this time as a starting point for education instead of an ending point. For more information, go to Stroudsburg Area School District News/Media.
