The 2025 Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) is Paige Bueckers!
Paige Bueckers was the No. 1 draft pick for the 2025 WNBA draft, following Caitlin Clark from 2024. Paige graduated from the University of Connecticut earlier in 2025, after the UConn Women’s basketball team claimed the national championship title on Sunday, April 6.
According to a Gatorade Instagram post, Paige also recorded 30 straight double-digit games, had a 40-point-plus game, and was a three-time rookie of the month.
Despite her team going 10-34 this season, Paige was a positive asset to the WNBA. She brought her faith, competitiveness, and loyalty to the team.
Dealing with a concussion at the beginning of the season, Paige bounced back for a record-breaking season. Her stats showed more success than Caitlin Clark’s rookie season in 2024.
Caitlin and Paige played against each other in the national college championship in 2024. Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes took that title.
Along with Paige, the NBA also announced its rookie of the year. According to ESPN, he also came from the University of Connecticut, like Paige—Stephon Castle of the San Antonio Spurs.
Could this season foreshadow a future Hall-of-Famer?
