Recently, the track began the 2026 season with 2 new coaches and a full roster of 103 boys and 77 girls. Returning coaches are Coach Carter for jumping, Coach Walter for sprinting, Coach Youngken, Cirillo, and Zimmerman for throwing, Coach Foti for long distance, and Coach Maddie for jumping.

Congratulations to all who made the team. The first meet of the season is today, Thursday, Mar. 18, 2026. This year welcomes the new long-distance coach, Coach Smith, to the team. During college, Smith participated in track & field for long-distance events. Coach Madison, or Coach Maddy as some might know her, has participated in hurdles and high jump in high school. She would attend Lehigh University, where she would participate in the women’s heptathlon: a combination of a multitude of track and field events. Here are some insights shared by Coach Maddy:

Cancelled scrimmage opinion:It is unfortunate that the opening scrimmage was cancelled because the coaching staff was looking forward to seeing the team compete and giving new athletes an opportunity to experience a track meet. The weather has not been on our side this winter, but we are making the most of it. I look forward to watching our athletes compete in our Home opener against Emmaus this week.”

Opinion on new event: “I was so excited when I heard the news about taking on hurdles. Hurdles were the event in track and field that got me hooked on the sport. It is a mentally tough event that is pretty technical. I loved the challenge of training for and competing in it, and I love seeing young athletes fall in love with the challenge of it.”

Thoughts on the canceled scrimmage: I was disappointed at first, but excited for the regular season meets to start. We have a ton of meets coming up in the next two months so hopefully it will be a successful track season!

Expectations for the season: As one of the new long distance coaches, I have high expectations for our runners this season. We have many experienced runners that are starting to develop as true leaders of the program, so it is very promising to see. “I love being involved with sports and helping out new runners feel like they are a part of the team. I also helped coach cross country in the fall”, Mr. Smith.

Good luck to the Track team this season!
