Stroudsburg fell to Parkland High School, 50-38, in the District 11 semifinals Wednesday night at William Allen High School in Allentown, PA.
Micaiah ‘Meeks’ Brown, 12, led all Stroudsburg scorers with 13 points, while Richard Gilmore, 12, added 10 points. Parkland’s Nick Coval passed the 2,000-point threshold during the second quarter of the game becoming the 6th player ever to score 2,000 points in their high school career in Lehigh Valley.
Stroudsburg now sets its sights on the Saturday showdown against Emmaus, at 1 P.M., at Easton Area High School.
Though it’s a consolation game for the District 11 championship, the stakes couldn’t be higher.
The winner of this game will advance to the state tournament. Stroudsburg has not been to the state tournament since head coach, Tarik El-Bassiouni, was a player for the team back in 1999. Stroudsburg lost their lone matchup against #2 Emmaus, 53-52, on January 3rd, 2024 at Stroudsburg High School.
