With winter sports in full swing, Stroudsburg has multiple Athletes of the Week nominees– as always.
Last week, Anna Kirby, ‘25, Emily Bozena, ‘25, and Sam Sroka, ‘25 were nominated by The Pocono Record.
Kirby broke her own school record in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:00:45. Bozena scored 27 points in a 68-47 win against Pocono Mountain East, and Sroka won the 50-yard freestyle against William Allen with a time of 24:68.
Kirby is rewriting Stroudsburg swim history again. She is committing to the Division 1 school, Marist College. Last year, she won districts and made it to states, and this year she hopes will be the encore.
This week, we have one nominee for Girls’ Basketball, McKayla Strunk, ‘25. Strunk scored 16 points, allowing her team to close out a tight 43-42 game over Whitehall.
Both Strunk and Bozena are key players on SHS varsity basketball team, consistently having high-scoring games and leading their team to their current 5-2 record. They have the best record in Monroe County and are looking to continue their dominance through the rest of this season.
