In November, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) informed the public that hackers associated with the People’s Republic of China (PRC) were trying to hack our phones.
According to Usatoday.com, they were trying to crack America’s “telecommunications infrastructure” in a “broad and significant cyber espionage campaign.”
The government reassured that the only victims were individuals involved in government or political affairs.
The FBI and CISA will continue their investigation; however, cybersecurity officials have not succeeded in stopping the hackers which is why they have urged smartphone users to stay safe with their information.
When communicating between two of the same devices, such as two Apple devices and two Android devices, the messages are secure. When communicating from one brand to another, the messages are vulnerable to attack.
WhatsApp and Signal are the two best apps for securing your safety. These apps specialize in encrypting data and make it easier to communicate since they can be downloaded and synced on desktop computers or laptops.
