Hamilton Elementary Principal, Mark Getz sent a letter to parents on April 10 addressing a lunch incident involving several children the day before.
Several first-grade students were “observed” with blue painters’ tape covering their mouths during lunch. It was later learned that a lunch monitor was responsible for the act.
Hamilton Elementary School has never had an incident like April 9. Hamilton Elementary is a school that hosts students from kindergarten through fourth grade. It’s located in Sciota, Pennsylvania, was founded in 1953, and currently enrolls about 315 students. Hamilton Elementary is one of five elementary schools in the Stroudsburg school district.
As of now, the identity of the lunch monitor who committed the mouth taping remains private, but the Stroudsburg superintendent’s opinion of the situation does not.
Dr. Curry expressed his disapproval with 28/22 News. “This behavior is not condoned nor directed. It is unacceptable at all levels. It will be handled speedily and equitably following all policies and applicable laws.”
Dr. Curry and the new Hamilton principal, Getz, assured families that those involved have been suspended with pay while an investigation continues.
The school administration reported that none of the students involved had been injured or harmed during the incident. District authorities are continuing to investigate the matter.
Getz, in his letter to parents, assured that this is a “serious matter” and that it “would be dealt with according to policies, procedures, and state law.”
