Programs
Primary programs available to students as of right now are mentorship with Geisinger Medical.
Mr. Davis, the Coordinator of Students Services at Stroudsburg High School is in charge of the programs. These include Biomedical, Health interns, Nursing, Future Ready Physicians and CLEAR.
Biomedical focuses heavily on biomedical research and science. Students interested in careers that involve research in the medical field should look into this program.
Health interns is another program not primarily focused on a specific career in the medical field. This program helps students who are unsure what medical career they want to pursue after high school.
The nursing program heavily focuses on nursing and covers professions in the field.
Future Ready Physicians is for students who intend to be any kind of doctor or physician assistant.
Their last program is Clear. Unlike the other programs, Clear occurs on Saturdays which is an extension of Giesinger Medical. It is their newest program centered around mental health. Occupations in this field include psychiatrists, psychologists, counselors and those focused around brain functions.
These programs are expected to start in a week or two with trips happening on Mondays and Fridays once a month during the school year. There will be a health science related career exposition in October or November to discover colleges and programs in this field.
There is another program in progress with Tobyhanna Army Depot that is expected to run from November through April. Students will be given the chance to explore different careers in STEM from cyber-security, IT, engineering and more.
Mr. Davis shared that his mission here is opportunity, “I want every student to have the opportunity to see what’s next.”
The newest program being worked on at the moment is Business Behind the Scenes. It is centered for students who are captivated by finance, hospitality, business etc. This will allow them to see local businesses in the Poconos. The first business trip will be in October at East Stroudsburg University to look at their business program and what is offered there. There will be a business exposition at Camelback Resort in November to look into the world of hospitality like cooking and culinary.
There will be more mentorships and workshops available throughout the school year covering health science, hospitality, culinary, business, finance and STEM with Tobyhanna.
During the meetings held in the auditorium September 3, 2025, Mr. Davis spoke to an estimate of 125 students interested in health science for 30 minutes explaining the Geisinger Medical Programming.
