Stroudsburg Boy’s Soccer had their 8th annual alumni game against Deiruff High School on September 20, 2025 at Ross-Stulgaitis stadium in honor of Jay Effros Kolb, who passed away on June 26, 2007. His legacy in the Stroudsburg community is not to be forgotten or understated. He was a player, coach, role model and a community leader who influenced many student-athletes greatly.
The Kolb family and guests of honor attended the alumni game for a ceremony prefacing kick off, where the family and honorary guests got together with the soccer team to enjoy a speech honoring Jay Effros and take pictures.
After the ceremony, and the required pictures, they witnessed the team take its most demanding win of the season, with a score line of 9-0.
Wyatt Kish, ‘27 opened the game with a goal and celebrated by holding up our Effros Kolb shirts and pointing it towards our honorary guests. A strong and meaningful celebration, showing the teams respect.
The following game, away at North Hampton High School, on September 22, 2025. Stroudsburg went through the gutter, with an incredibly hard to swallow loss with a score line of 0-9.
At mid-season, boys’soccer’s record is now 4-7-1.
They’ve shown that they are a team capable of winning the competitive games, shown in their dramatic overtime win against William Allen High school on September 9, 2025. Kaiden Shatzman, ‘26 scored the game winning header, assisted by a corner kick by Wyatt Kish, ‘27.
Despite this, the team’s season has been that of great struggle (with a total of 7 losses), they’ve gone through many tough losses, regardless of the beginning of the season looking promising. They’ve gone through multiple overtimes and close calls. And at this point in the season, with the following schedule being incredibly tough, the team needs to show its gal and unwavering strength to pull through.
Head Coach Beebe has made changes to the team’s tactics in order to give the team an opportunity to fight against the remaining tough teams. He introduced a low-block, a defense focused formation that gives the opponents next to nothing on offence. He hopes to stop the high scoring defeats, and instead opt for closer games with higher chances of victory.
