After the tough loss on Tuesday against Pocono Mountain East, the Mountaineers came back swinging.
Stroudsburg demolished East Stroudsburg South yesterday, winning 11-1 in another abbreviated game due to the mercy rule–only this time in their favor.
Stroudsburg’s starter Paulie Maccarrone, 11, was a key player in the team’s performance.
Maccarrone threw a 5-inning complete game, only allowing 1 unearned run and striking out 8. He also contributed at the plate, going 1-2 with a double and driving in a run. The defense also helped him, only committing one error after five on Tuesday.
The frigid weather didn’t stop the bats either, as 7 different players drove home a run in the game.
Outfielder Brian Kitchell, 10, went 2-4, scoring 2 runs, stealing 2 bases, and batting in 2 runs. Shortstop Damian Budhai, 9, also pushed across 2 runs and had a hit in 2 at-bats. Outfielder Jackson Brancato, 12, hit the walk-off blow in the bottom of the 5th inning, making the score 11-1.
The team’s next scheduled game is tomorrow at Wallenpaupack, weather permitting. On Monday, the team will return to their home field against 2-0 Easton Area. The last time these 2 teams played was in 2021, when Easton defeated the Mountaineers, 12-6.
