This year the Stroudsburg High School music department is preparing to perform Shrek The Musical! Auditions are going to be held on December 8 and December 9 after school.

The audition materials students will need to prepare are a memorized monologue and a  memorized segment from a song from Shrek. Students also must make sure that they are always available for rehearsals.  Work, vacation, as well as other activities, should not prevent them from attending.

“I’m excited and nervous at the same time,” said junior Noah Barro. “It’s been two years since any of us had to audition for the musical so it’s a big thing.”

Students are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing to tryouts.

Shrek the Musical’s performance dates will be on Friday, April 22, at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, April 23, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 24, at 2:00 p.m.

Rehearsals for cast, pit, and crew are Monday 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., for scenes and small groups, rehearsals are Wednesday and Friday from 2:30 p.m. –  6:00 p.m.

“It is a little crazy to think it is coming up so quickly,” said senior Lauren Deemer. “It doesn’t seem real but it should be a fun year!”

Shrek the Musical is a one-of-a-kind, hilarious fairy tale in which curses are reversed, monsters get the girls, donkeys, and dragons find love, and princesses are beautiful in all shapes and sizes.
