Girls’ Track continues to reign

On Monday, April 22, the SHS track team competed in a dual meet against William Allen and Pocono Mountain West.

William Allen lost to SHS girls with a final score of 4 to 146 while PMW scored 49 to SHS’s total of 101.

Seniors Lindsey Pelaez dominated both track and field events while Fayth Winkleman and Zoe-Marie Brown ruled running events.

Juniors, Alena Murray, Emily Bozena, Carolyn Roberti, and  Savannah Hlavac equally earn honorable mentions for relays and hurdles.

Alena Murray, 11, took first place in the 100-meter Dash followed by Fayth Winkleman, 12, who took second. Winkleman also took first place in the 200-meter Dash.

Sophomores Julia Grant, Julianna McAllister, Nya and Kayla Cawley, and Karen Helm consistently add points to the board.

Grant placed first in the 800-meter run and ran anchor in the all-sophomore 800-meter relay team that took first place.

Lindsey Pelaez, 12, took first, Zoe-Marie Brown, 12, took second place, and Emily Bozena, 11, took third place in the 100-meter Hurdles.

Olivia Full, 10, took first place; Emily Bozena took second place; and Grace Coyne, 10, took third place in the 300-meter Hurdles.

SHS swept the Long Jump with Pelaez taking first, Jorai Hunter, 9, taking second, and Cailin Mignosi, 10, taking third.  Pelaez also took first place in the Triple jump

The 4 x 100 relay team took first place: Savannah Hlvac, 11; Zoe-Marie Brown, 12; Nya Cawley, 10; Jorai Hunter, 9.

The 4 x 400-meter relay team also took first place: Julianna McAllister, 10; Nya Cawley, 10; Kayla Cawley, 10; and Emily Bozena, 11.

The 4 x 800-meter relay team grabbed first place: Karen Helm, 10; Julianna McAllister, 10; Kayla Cawley, 10; and Julia Grant, 10.
