On Tuesday, Sept 24, signs of Stroudsburg High School’s 2025 musical appeared. A list of possible musicals and a list of questions that the music department considers when picking the musical are showcased on the bulletin board adjacent to the chorus room (C hallway).
Anticipation grows as students feverishly check the board each morning for updates.
The musical from the 2024 school year was “The Prom”, which was announced Sept 24, 2023, so students are expecting the announcement to come soon.
“Sometimes the rights are harder to receive for some musicals than others. We wait until we have rights and the contract to the musical to announce it,” says Billye Kubiak.
There are various types of opportunities embedded in the musical. The main cast, stage crew, and pit. The pit is directed by Skip Cassidy, SHS Band Director, and the stage crew is run by Lisa Rodgers, retired SHS orchestra teacher. The casting team includes Janice Lee, Skip Cassidy, Billye Kubiak, and Max Kubiak.
“I had a great time with ‘The Prom.’ We got to put on an incredible show with a great message that had a great impact on our community,” says Julia Sobrinski, 26′.
Many popular musicals are displayed including “Little Shop Of Horrors,” “Mean Girls,” and “Hairspray.
“The three musicals I think are most possible are ‘High School Musical,’ ‘The Addams Family,’ and ‘Mean Girls,’“ says Sandy Gravesande, 26′.
Keep your eyes peeled to find out what the 2025 musical will be!
