The night of Friday, October 24, Stroudsburg clinched a spot in the District XI 6A Playoffs as the seventh seed. Stroudsburg ended their regular season with a record of 5-5, falling to Pleasant Valley 6-10 to close out. Stroudsburg’s’ offense struggled to get anything going, seeing their star running back, Keyen Johnson, ’27, only rush for 78 yards in 21 attempts, while Jack Mitchell, ’27, went 14 for 22 passing for 91 yards and an interception.
Stroudsburg plays against the undefeated Parkland Trojans next, a game that will be an uphill battle. Entering as huge underdogs, the Mountaineers will have to be on fire to keep this game close. Johnson currently has 1,310 yards rushing with 12 touchdowns, and he seems to be the key to the offense.
Parkland has only let up five touchdowns in the last six games, while averaging almost six on offense. Defensively, the Mountaineers have a big task to stop the Trojans, being blown out by each 6A opponent they’ve face this year, yet the team is optimistic.
A win on Halloween night against the second seeded team in 6A would truly be a storybook game, come out and support the team at Parkland High School at 7:00p.m.
