Stroudsburg jazz band

The Stroudsburg Jazz Band will perform this Thursday, May 24, at 7:00 p.m. in the high school auditorium. The evening will start with the middle school jazz band, followed by the junior high’s jazz band, and wrapping up the evening with the high school jazz band.

The bands will be playing rock, funk, swing, Latin, and blues. Songs by Maynard Ferguson, Count Basie, Chick Corea, Lucky Chops, Corey Henry, Wilson Pickett and more will be performed. There will also be several smaller groups organized by members of the band.

“Jazz band is always very exciting,” said sophomore Hope Porter, a saxophonist. “The concert will be a dang good time!”

The following evening, the jazz band will be performing in the lobby of the Great Wolf Lodge at 5:00 p.m. The band performs there every year during the Friday of the Memorial Day weekend. They will also be playing during the middle school band concert on June 5.

“The middle school kids love to hear the high school kids perform for them, they sound like rock stars!”  said Mr. Ben Pritchard, the high school jazz band director.

Be sure to go support your fellow classmates and enjoy the multiple jazz performances the SASD music department will display. You will not be disappointed!
